Situational Analysis

Due to the Public Health Emergency and state of calamity caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the Province of Bohol headed by Gov. Arthur C. Yap created the Bohol Provincial Isolation Center to answer the DOH and DILG Joint Administrative Order No.2020-001 Subject: Guidelines on Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for COVID-19 cases (LIGTAS COVID) and the Community-based Management of Mild COVID-19 Cases in order to prevent the transmission and management of contact, suspect, probable, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the community level.

BPIC is a province managed facility, where contact, suspect, probable, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 with mild symptoms, whose LGUs, home environment cannot support the physical distancing can be temporarily housed for quarantine or isolation will be accommodated in this facility. To refrain decongestion of the Governors Celestino Gallares Hospital (GCGMH) the BPIC  also caters step down patients from GCGMH that need continue isolation after recovering themselves from severe COVID-19 symptoms that is continue recuperating towards healing.

BPIC was located at Capitol Annex, Dao District Tagbilaran City which is a 5-10 minute drive to a Level III hospital Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) and also an identified COVID hospital in case of referral and transfer of patients.

Bohol Provincial Isolation Center

BPIC is permanent structure that is used temporarily as an Isolation Center. It has separate entrance and exit for patients and health workers. It has 3 zones namely: a. contaminated zone where the patient are contained, b. buffer zone for doffing and c. sterile zone for donning of health workers. The cubicle has its partitions with at least 3 meters distance from patient’s beds to ensure privacy and social distancing.  It has 2 winged the left wing with shared toilets for both male and female and the right wing has also toilet for male and female. It is well lighted and can provide uninterrupted electricity and water since the building has a standby generator and water reservoir. It is well ventilated since it has windows and also electric fan is available. The facility can accommodate at least 42 patients.

  1. Consultation for patients experiencing mild respiratory symptoms
  2. Provision of supportive treatment and psychosocial service (refer to Annex F for Guidelines for Mental health and psychosocial services (MHPSS))

Covid 19 Patients

Treatment and monitoring services for PUIs with no optimal isolation in their LGUs and confirmed COVID-19 patient with mild symptoms

Other Task

Timely referral to appropriate health facilities as needed
