Directly observed therapy (DOT) is used to ensure the person receives and takes all medications as prescribed and to monitor response to treatment. Left alone, many people with tuberculosis fail to take all their medication and contribute to the spread of drug-resistant tuberculosis.Now on its eleventh day, the Bohol PHO’s Provincial NTP CORE Team headed by its provincial program coordinator Ms. Polizena Rances, alternate program coordinator Ms. Angelita Maleriado, medical technologist program coordinator Ms. Crisanta Estomago, and DOH assistant nurse Ms. Elma Lumanas, continue to visit all public and private DOTS facilities in the province in order to assess and evaluate its program implementation according to the Department of Health standard.”Sa PHO Una Ang Serbisyo”#BuhatAngPasultion

March 13, 2022 – A successful Medical Mission and COVID-19 Vaccination was facilitated by the 47th Infantry Katapatan Battalion at its headquarters located at Camp Rajah Sikatuna in Carmen town.Actively participating in the provision of various health services during the activity were the Bohol Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez together with Dr. Emerson Mateo and PHO’s mobile vaccination team; Dr. Josephine Jabonillo and Dr. Daisy Dabalos joined Mr. Jesus Noroño Jr and the rest of the Medical Outreach Unit; and the circumcision team led by third district board member Dr. Elpidio Bonita.Members of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Boholana Kisses also graced the event headed by second district board member, Honorable Frans Gelaine Garcia Devenosa together with Ms. Zoila Jean Cenabre, and volunteer doctors Dr. Venalyn A. Discussion about Last Mile School for the pilot implementation of the Healthy Learning Institutions Program in the province.

Representatives from the DOH Regional Office led by its health education and promotion officer, Ms. Bernadine Hayag, visited the Bohol Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez and discussed about Last Mile School for the pilot implementation of the Healthy Learning Institutions Program in the province.

Last Mile School are schools that have less than four classrooms, usually makeshift and nonstandard, no electricity, no funds for repairs or new construction projects in the past four years, a travel distance of more than one hour away from the center, and with accessibility only through difficult terrain. These are schools with multi-grade classes, have less than five teachers, and a population of fewer than 100 learners, the majority of whom are indigenous peoples.DOH, Bohol PHO and DepEd shall be working together in the identification, monitoring, and evaluation of the schools with disadvantaged students who do not have sufficient access to quality education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
